Battle Report: Night of the Living Dead!?

As the sun turned and all planets and stars within our own systems united we saw something that seemed to only occur in the legends of ancient lore.  Something of such beauty grown men were weeping like children..  We did see my friends.  We saw.

A successful game night!  Well, 2 turns and a couple of beers successful!

It seems the gaming group is slowly starting to get back together.  It may be the cold outdoors of New England…  It may be the smell of vacations on the horizon, it may be the loosening of the leashes held by angry baby momma’s.  No one is sure, but great times abound.

The Game:  Malifaux

The Size: 21 ss

The Players: CloudFang- Seamus, Thundernuts- Lady J, Aaronm- Som’mer Teeth

The Scenario: Night of the Living Dead (Halloween Scenario)

The Beer:  Guinness, Some Pumpkin Spice Beer

The Results:

Well the game never really ended.  No one lost and no one won.  But we got together and played something.  So we are indefinitely moving in the right direction.  Why malifaux you say?  especially for a gaming group that has been much more dedicated to warmahoring?  Well it really has a lot to do with the effectiveness of multiplayer, the change of pace that scenarios offer, and the push for fun and funny over competitive stressful play.  (more on this later in the week)

So the idea of the scenario was to get your crew into the lovely granary/barn that thunder had created and hold down the position.  At the same time after every turn more and more zombies found their way onto the game table and would start going after your crew or if no one was in sight they would begin to try and knock down the building everyone was in.  You could board up windows and doors if youd like but at the same time your opponents were trying to kill you.

Heres what happened.  I didnt take extensive notes on this game because not much really happened.  Turn one had us activating models and moving towards the granary for the showdown.  You’ll see a belle in pic 1 trying to sneak in a window.  Aaronm decided to rush me with a crazy pig rider thing.  So I decided to put my undead ladies of the night to work.  And pale bosoms were everywhere.  The hog couldn’t resist!  So I managed to lure his pig all the way into my squad and pretty much take it out.  Aaronm proceeded to move some gremlins up and take a few pot shots with not too much for results.  Thunder up in the far corner moved in to take the building.

Nice table layout!  Sorry about the unpainted figs..  we’re working on that.

First round of zombies came out.  Most were directed towards me of course with the exception of the two I placed by thunder to give him something to do more or less..  since the battle was obviously being brought to me instead of towards the granary.  Anyway.  The wild hog went crazy and rushed Seamus a buncha times but like the belles man is that guy hard to kill too!  (hard to kill 2; see what i did there?) So in turn I killed the hog with a nice slap of the riding crop on his hog balls..  I am really growing to like Sybelle, that fat hairless slutty Madam! woo hoo.  I know Thundernutz has a crush on her, thats for sure.  Anyway after seeing the amazing lure ation put forth by the belles in turn one, Som’mer could not resist the undead hooha.

Im not really sure what he was thinking after i managed to lure his hog halfway across the table.  Maybe he was thinking about the beers,  maybe he was thinking about kicking us out, maybe he was thinking about not giving a f*&@, maybe he was thinking about those undead hookers, or his wife’s new job, or maybe he was thinking about undead hookers combined with his wife’s new job.  Either way he walked Som’mer right up by himself.  I could not help feeling like a giddy little school girl!  I was holding a red joker and basically shot him in the face with Seamus’ gun with a red joker for damage and another severe on the flip I think I broke the man.  14 damage!  That ended basically what we had time for.

Oh yea I forgot about thundernutz.  I think he shot a zombie or two?  I dont remember he was not able to do much.

Lessons Learned:  Gaming is tons of fun!  I almost forgot how great it is to hang out with friends and get a game in.  Lure is crazy cool!?  I was Luring people across the board.  Seamus’ gun is not something to fool around with and neither is his ability to take a lot of punishment.  Gremlins are unpredictable at best.  Beer is good.  Gremlins can pack a punch if your not careful.  Watch out for zombies.  Start games earlier so we can finish.

Thanks to all who participated.  Looking forward to the next game time!  See you on the battlefield.

  1. Nice write up! Friggin hilarious! It’s hard to resist a pale bosom in the pale moonlight.
